Publication 'Play!' about playgrounds in the Netherlands over the past 40 years

The project PLAY! documents the developments in the design and planning culture of playgrounds in the Netherlands over the past 40 years, through the lens of the playground landscape of Rotterdam. The book largely consists of a photo documentation of 244 playgrounds in 12 neighbourhoods in Rotterdam. This documentation is supplemented with notes, quotes and reflections on the realisation of the playgrounds, their current physical condition, lessons learned and ideas for the future. Themes such as material sustainability, biodiversity, physical health and social relevance are highlighted.
