Groningen Wake Up Call' premieres in Forum

A documentary about the urban renewal of Groningen during the 1970s that was emulated throughout the Netherlands. The Groningen Wake Up Call is a production of Stichting Berlagehuis Usquert, based on an idea by and realised by Heleen de Wit. On 6 November 2021, the documentary will premiere in Forum.

A daring new way of thinking about urban planning and architecture filmed with the cooperation of alderman Max van den Berg and architect Theo Oving. Herman Hertzberger, Roel Vos, Francine Oving and Noor Mens were also interviewed to document the turning point in the development of the city of Groningen. The film, supported by Stichting EFL, shows the effects of urban renewal on the people who lived there at the time.
